Who We Are

M3U8Player is a lightweight, web-native project launched by independent developers. Our mission is to leverage the power of modern browser performance to provide developers, streaming engineers, and global users with a minimalist, secure, and cross-platform environment for testing and playing HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) content.

Why We Built This

While working on web development and streaming debugs, we realized that most available players are either weighed down by bloatware or cluttered with intrusive ads. We created M3U8Player to get back to basics: a straightforward, “plug-and-play” utility with zero friction.

Technical Architecture & Privacy

Unlike traditional video platforms, M3U8Player operates strictly on a client-side parsing model:

  • Local Processing: All video decoding and logical processing happen exclusively within your browser on your local device.
  • No Middleman: Our servers only deliver basic web files. We never relay, proxy, or distribute any video data streams.
  • Zero Data Retention: We do not maintain a database. We don’t log your links, and we don’t track your playback history. Your privacy is effectively “physically isolated” by our technical design.

M3U8Player maintains a strict policy of Technological Neutrality.

  • Tool-Only Status: As a pure technical utility, we do not own, host, or control any video content. Much like a web browser or a local media player (e.g., VLC), we serve only as a vehicle to parse specific protocols.
  • Copyright Compliance: We firmly support intellectual property rights. We do not provide video resources or maintain content indexes. Users assume full legal responsibility for the legality of the content they choose to play through this tool.
